In addition, Anna speaks fluent Polish, fair Italian and fair Spanish. She holds a dual U.S./Polish citizenship and currently resides in the State of New Jersey with her husband. Eileen received a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Rowan University and a Master’s Degree in Social Psychology from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. After working as a magazine editor in New York City for many years, she became a health educator, teaching ages 4-94 about mental health and how to prevent suicide and substance abuse.
Her ESL career began when she was trained as an ESL Volunteer for her local library, combining both her passion for learning about other cultures and her love of English. Currently, she volunteers as an ESL tutor for adults at the library, tutors Chinese students online, and is especially fond of her adult ESL learners at NLS! Eileen’s family and lovable dog, Mongo, are often mentioned in her lessons and she feels she learns just as much from her students as they do from her. One day she hopes you will see her name on the children’s book she has been writing since she was 9 years old.
As an ESL/English Language Arts Instructor, Pauline likes working with those who want to master the English language in their daily lives. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for the language with students who are eager to learn and open to creative teaching methods.
Pauline graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, and went on to pursue her Master’s Degree in Travel and International Studies from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. After that, she decided to focus on helping non-native English speakers with her TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification in Indonesia; for more than a year, she taught English to students of all ages. As one of two native English speakers on the teaching staff, she was responsible for editing her Indonesian colleagues’ students’ progress reports before distribution and the school’s quarterly newsletter.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling to domestic and international locations, reading, writing short stories, watching movies, visiting museums, and other cultural pursuits.
